MAY, 2389
The USS Traveller arrives in Messier 4 in the Carpathia Star System. Accompanying them is the colony barge SS Acheron, carrying 10'000 colonists. They go into orbit around a habitable moon of the gas giant Tangerine Dream. It is here that they meet The Myriad in the form of the trader Abborax, who appears seemingly out of the surface of the systems sun.

Abborax transmitted a message of peaceful intent and was welcomed aboard the USS Traveller. Disdaining beaming technology, the Myriad agent arrived on the ship via a shuttlecraft. It soon became clear upon his arrival that the Myriad had had access to surface scans of the crew, as he had manufactured a Human Proxy as was custom for the Myriad. He brought minor gifts for the crew, and a guest he travelled with in the form of the Casstauilli noble named Mazarian.

Abborax was given a tour of the ship, and whilst on this tour confided in the ships Chief Engineer he knew his secret: that he, like the Myriad, was an uplifted consciousness running on a computer. The CEO was taken aback, and slowly Abboarx worked upon this newfound kinship to drive a wedge between him and the 'Bound' organics of the crew. Whilst this happened Mazarian was able to confide in the Chief Operations Officer that he was less of a guest and more of a prisoner. That the Myriad control entire worlds, poisoning them with misinformation or outright subjugation.

When confronted by this fact, Abborax did not complain unduly, and demonstrated his mastery of Starfleet computer science. Without effort the Myriad was able to take control of the Traveller, turn its guns on the colony barge, and shoot it out of the sky and into a degrading orbit above the moon of Carpathia. In the same breath, he transferred his consciousness back to his ship, along with the digitised mind of the CEO, and used the Traveller's transporters to beam the entire computer core into his ship['s cargo bay.

He then left the Traveller to attempt to rescue the barge without the main computer, fled for the star he had appeared from.

Once the barge was saved, effecting a forced landing on Carpathia without hope of taking off again, the Traveller gave case. It is during the chase into the star that the Traveller discovered a Whisper Gate, an ancient alien artefact used by the Myriad as a form of instantaneous FTL travel from one point to another. During the chase, and jump through the Whisper Gate, the USS Travellers disaster beacon activated and is able to transmit an SOS back to the Alpha Quadrant.
